San Juan Islands Whale Watching Cruise on board the 110 ft Island Mariner: Learn about and watch the antics of killer whales, Gray whales, porpoises, seals and sea lions cruising the waterways in the San Juan Islands, off the shores of Bellingham, Washington. The trip will begin by boarding an Amtrak train at Union Station Friday morning (Sept 17) arriving in Bellingham mid afternoon. Relax a bit, see the charming shops in Historic Fairhaven Village and eat dinner in one of the many restaurants close by. The cruise begins at 10:00 AM Saturday (Sept 18) and returns to the dock around 4:30 PM. The return to Portland is Sunday (Sept 19) via Amtrak arriving at Union Station mid afternoon.  Lodging is provided at two locations: The Chrysalis Inn and the Fairhaven Village Inn.  Each room has two beds and houses two adults [double occupancy]. Room costs vary due to the view from the window and the proximity to shops and restaurants.  Amtrak fares will vary some due to special rates offered from time to time. It is projected the total costs per person [dbl occ] will fall between $415.00 and $515.00 including train fare, cruise fare, overnight stays [2 nights] and connecting cab fares.
