We are thrilled to announce that the Oregon Shakespeare Festival met its $1 Million Matching Challenge, and we are able to once again offer our Shakespeare Retreat!

Attending plays at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival is even better with others to share the experience.  At this retreat, you also get the added bonus of enjoying the beauty and comfort of Camp Latgawa in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest!  A Shakespearean scholar will lead interactive discussions to help you better understand Shakespeare’s writings and enrich your viewing of the performances.

This year's plays:
Much Ado About Nothing, Tuesday, June 18, 8:00 pm, $65.00
Virgins to Villains, Wednesday, June 19, 8:00 pm, $40.00
Macbeth, Thursday, June 20, 8:00 pm, $60.00

Register by Wednesday, May 15, 2024, to be guaranteed tickets. Retreat registrations will be accepted after this date if space is available, but tickets cannot be guaranteed due to deadlines from OSF.

Brunch and dinner will be provided each day, with Thursday's dinner planned to be an off-site picnic meal, depending on the weather. A table with snacks, sodas and seltzer waters will be available throughout the retreat.

Visit OSF's website for more information on the plays and the Festival.

During your free time you can hike, swim in the pool, play ping-pong, read a good book, or go to Ashland early for a late lunch and shopping.

The retreat will start on Monday afternoon with check-in at camp 4pm – 6pm.  Please let the camp know if you will arrive later than this.  The event will conclude after brunch on Friday.

Van transportation will be provided to and from the plays.

We are welcoming back this year our Shakespeare scholar, Catherine Cromer, who taught Shakespeare for over 30 years, has directed several Shakespeare productions and has appeared in a production of Hamlet. The dean of the camp is Steve Cromer, who has previously deaned the Music, Art, Dance, Drama and Technology (MADDt) camp at Camp Magruder. Previews and discussions of the plays will take place in the mornings. You may it helpful to bring your own copies of the plays and read them prior to the start of the camp, but this is not required.

Our website has the information about what to bring, directions to camp, camp policies and health forms on one page:  READY, SET, GO to CAMP!

If registering by mail, please send a completed health form to the Camping Office at least 10 days before the camp begins.

For registration information, please contact our camp registrar at 503-802-9214 or registrar@gocamping.org.  A non-refundable $75 deposit is required to hold your spot.  This deposit will not be refunded but may be transferred to another session should you need to cancel.  All balances should be paid at least two weeks before camp unless prior arrangements have been made.
